![]() Dear friends, Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe we have made it into 2019. And I can’t believe I have been your pastor for 1.5 years already. Time really flies when you are having fun. I want to say a word of thanks for your ministry this past year and I look forward to all that is yet to come! As we kick off a new year, I invite you to dream. When you close your eyes, and think about our community, what do you dream for us? What brings you great excitement? What fuels your drive for purpose? Where do you feel the Spirit urging us to go? As a seminary student, a professor of mine posed a scenario to the class. She said, “Imagine someone walks into your office and says to you, ‘I have $10,000 I want to give to this church, but first I want to know, what would you do with it?’ The professor then asked, “Would you have an immediate answer for this generous donor?” Now, the amount of money isn’t really the focus. She could have said $1,000 or even $100,000. Her point was that as leaders it’s part of our job to be dreaming. It is part of our job to be thinking big and having an imagination for our communities. It is part of our job to be listening for God’s small voice leading us into bold ventures. As God’s people we are called to do the same. How would you answer the question? If someone walked up to you and offered the church $10,000, what would you say that we would do with it? I have a number of answers to this question. If you want to know what I am dreaming about, stop and ask me anytime! I’m going to avoid the classic mistake of asking the class a question and then answering it myself. I really want you to think and dream! As you ponder this year ahead, I invite you to attend our Annual Meeting. We will give thanks for 2018 and all that God has done here, in and through us, and we will continue to plan and dream for 2019. Trinity’s Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 following worship. [Back-up date: Sunday, February 3, 2019.] We will join together in a pot-luck meal following the meeting. January is a natural time to dream. We get to start fresh and listen for how God is moving us and shaping us for the next 12 months ahead. I think it’s appropriate that we remember a pastor, Reverend Doctor King, who once told the world he had a dream. A dream where his “four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” A dream of justice, a dream of freedom, a dream of God’s kingdom on earth. This year, what is your dream? In Christ, Pastor Megan
